Perimenopause & Menopause Care
in Jefferson City, MO

Thoughtful hormone care for women who want to feel like themselves again

Perimenopause and menopause can affect far more than your period. Sleep, mood, weight, energy, focus, joints, hair, skin, sex drive, bladder symptoms, and overall confidence can all shift during this season of life.

At Focused Health & Wellness, Dr. Lenora Epple offers personalized perimenopause and menopause care for women who want answers, options, and a plan that fits their real life. Care may include symptom review, medical history, lab evaluation when appropriate, lifestyle and nutrition support, hormone therapy guidance, and ongoing primary care for the many health changes that can show up in midlife.

This consultation is available to members and non-members. Ongoing care may be provided through membership or per-visit follow-up depending on your needs.

If you feel like something changed, you are probably right

Maybe your sleep is suddenly unreliable. Maybe your anxiety is louder. Maybe your brain feels like it has too many tabs open and none of them are loading. Maybe your periods are heavier, closer together, farther apart, or operating on what appears to be a highly mysterious internal committee process.

Or maybe you have been told your labs are “normal,” but you still do not feel normal.

Perimenopause and menopause can be confusing because symptoms may show up gradually, overlap with other conditions, and affect parts of your health you may not immediately connect to hormones. You deserve to be taken seriously, listened to carefully, and offered a plan that looks at the whole picture.

Midlife women’s health and menopause support

Perimenopause and menopause can affect the whole body

Common symptoms and concerns may include:

  • Hot flashes or night sweats

  • Sleep disruption or waking during the night

  • Mood changes, irritability, or anxiety

  • Brain fog, word-finding trouble, or difficulty concentrating

  • Heavier, irregular, or unpredictable periods

  • Weight gain or changes in body composition

  • Joint aches, muscle aches, or stiffness

  • Hair thinning or changes in skin

  • Lower libido or changes in sexual comfort

  • Vaginal dryness or urinary symptoms

  • Fatigue or lower exercise tolerance

  • Bone, muscle, and long-term metabolic health concerns

Not every symptom is caused by hormones, and not every woman needs hormone therapy. But symptoms deserve thoughtful evaluation — not dismissal.

Personalized care,
not one-size-fits-all hormone advice

Hormone therapy can be very helpful for the right patient, but the decision should be individualized. Your age, menstrual history, symptoms, medical history, family history, risk factors, uterus status, medications, goals, and preferences all matter.

At Focused Health & Wellness, we take time to talk through your symptoms and your options. For some women, that may include hormone therapy. For others, the plan may include non-hormonal options, nutrition support, strength and bone health strategies, sleep support, medication review, lab evaluation, or treatment of another condition that is contributing to symptoms.

The goal is not to chase a number on a lab report. The goal is to help you understand what is happening in your body and build a safe, thoughtful plan that helps you feel and function better.

Your perimenopause or menopause plan may include

A detailed symptom and health review

We review your symptoms, cycle changes, medical history, family history, medications, prior treatments, goals, and concerns. This visit is designed to give enough time for the story — because the story matters.

Hormone therapy discussion when appropriate

When hormone therapy is appropriate, we discuss potential benefits, risks, forms of treatment, dosing considerations, monitoring, and what to expect. This may include estrogen, progesterone, local vaginal hormone therapy, or other options depending on your needs and medical history.

Non-hormonal options when needed

Hormone therapy is not the only option. Some women are not candidates for hormone therapy, prefer not to use hormones, or need additional support. We can discuss non-hormonal medications, sleep strategies, nutrition, movement, stress support, and other symptom-specific treatments.

Lab evaluation when it helps

Perimenopause is often diagnosed based on symptoms and menstrual history, not a single hormone lab. However, labs may be useful when symptoms overlap with thyroid disease, anemia, nutrient deficiencies, diabetes risk, inflammation, or other medical concerns. Testing is individualized based on your story.

Bone, muscle, and metabolic health support

Midlife is an important time to protect strength, bone density, insulin sensitivity, cardiovascular health, and long-term independence. We can address nutrition, protein intake, resistance training, vitamin D, bone health, body composition, blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, and other risk factors as part of a broader plan.

Support for sexual and urinary health

Hormonal changes can affect vaginal tissue, bladder symptoms, comfort, libido, and intimacy. These concerns are common and treatable. We discuss them respectfully and privately, without making them the headline of your care unless you want them to be.

Why Internal Medicine Matters in Menopause Care

Menopause care with a primary care lens

Perimenopause and menopause do not happen in a vacuum. Midlife symptoms can overlap with thyroid disease, anemia, autoimmune issues, depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, diabetes risk, heart disease risk, medication side effects, and changes in muscle or bone health.

As an internal medicine physician, Dr. Epple approaches hormone care within the context of your whole health. That means your care can include both symptom relief and prevention-focused planning for the years ahead.

“Hormones matter, but they are not the only thing that matters. My job is to help you sort through the whole picture so we do not miss something important — whether your symptoms are hormone-related, caused by something else, or a combination of both.”

Perimenopause and menopause consultation at Focused Health and Wellness

Start with a Menopause & Hormone Consultation

Your first step is a focused consultation with Dr. Epple. During this visit, we review your symptoms, menstrual history, medical history, family history, medications, risk factors, goals, and prior treatments.

From there, we discuss your options. Depending on your needs, your plan may include hormone therapy, non-hormonal symptom treatment, lab evaluation, nutrition support, sleep support, bone and muscle health strategies, or broader primary care follow-up.

Because menopause care often touches several areas of health, ongoing care may be best supported through membership. Non-members may still schedule a consultation and receive focused per-visit care.

Menopause care for sexual health and hormone symptoms

Sexual Health Is Part of Health

You are allowed to talk about all of it

Changes in libido, arousal, vaginal dryness, pain with intercourse, bladder symptoms, recurrent urinary symptoms, and changes in confidence are common in perimenopause and menopause. They are also commonly ignored, minimized, or brushed off — even though treatment options exist.

At Focused Health & Wellness, sexual health is treated as a normal and important part of midlife care. You do not have to make it the main reason for your visit, but you are welcome to bring it up. We discuss these concerns privately, respectfully, and clinically — without making them the headline of your care unless you want them to be.

The goal is to help you understand what is common, what is treatable, and what options may help you feel more comfortable, confident, and connected to yourself again.
